Do not let your eyes trick you. If you’re used to seeing the existing Buick Enclave, a midsize crossover that has been on the road since 2007, the new 2018 model may look smaller sized. It’s not. The new Enclave is in fact longer and has more space between the front and rear wheels than the original, yet the general weight of the new Enclave is down. Buick says the result is a midsize crossover that’s more roomy on the inside yet more fuel-efficient on the roadway, 2 characteristics that must serve it well in a fiercely objected to section.
The Avenir name is something new totally. It’s a new sub-brand that Buick is presenting on the Enclave that adds another layer of luxury onto the basic model. It will sit above the Premium model that was formerly the most feature-rich trim level used on the Enclave.
Basic features on the Enclave Avenir consist of an unique mesh grille, 20-inch wheels and special interior colors and materials. The specific features aren’t striking by themselves, but taken together they do make this Enclave look a step above anything offered on its predecessor.
Like a lot of GM models, the brand-new Enclave features a standard 4G modem so there’s Wi-Fi for everybody onboard. An 8-inch center display screen is standard, and it supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Readily available electronic security features consist of a surround-view cam system, rear cross-traffic help and lane departure caution and assist. And if you’re particular about air quality, the Enclave even features an onboard ionizer to filter the air inside the cabin.
Apart from the Avenir upgrades, the Enclave follows similar formula as the previous model. It’s a spacious three-row crossover with a basic V6 and a new nine-speed automatic transmission. The engine delivers 302 horse power to either the front wheels or all four wheels on all-wheel-drive models. Towing capacity is up to 5,000 pounds and we expect total mileage to enhance slightly.
No prices has actually been revealed yet, but anticipate a starting cost near $40,000 with the Avenir models pressing $50K. Sales of the 2018 Buick Enclave are anticipated to start this fall.
