The evolution of this iconic pony car continues. It all started in 1966 and so far, there are five generations of this legend. Nevertheless, that state will be changed quickly – Chevrolet plans to introduce new, sixth generation of Camaro. That seems extremely logical mainly because Chevy’s arch rivals Ford and Dodge already presented new versions of Mustang and Challenger. It is expected that new model will be launched as 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. Nevertheless, changes won’t be so drastic, at the least when it is about look, they are going to be much more evolutional.
When it is about 2016 Chevrolet Camaro design, big novelty is that it will ride on new chassis known as Alpha, which is employed on models like new Cadillac CTS or ATS. New platform will make new Camaro around 300-400 pounds lighter, which will supply greater handling and, not surprisingly, better fuel economy. On the other side, the look of new model will not be too much diverse from an outgoing model. The distinction between two last generations will not be substantial like, for instance, involving first and second. While it may have diverse dimensions, general look is going to be extremely similar to fifth-generation model, so it is proper to say that new, sixth generation will look more like some sort of a refreshed present pony. All in all, 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will appear far more aggressive and muscular, but not an excessive amount of various.
Just like outgoing model, 2016 Camaro are going to be supplied in muscle variants and in six-cylinder variant. The line-up of engines is nonetheless unknown, so there is plenty of area for speculations about achievable new engines. It is quite likely that we are going to view some 4-cylinder turbocharged engine in 2016 Chevy Camaro as response to new Mustang’s new EcoBoost variant. We also anticipate that Chevrolet will speed up launch program for high-performance models, just like it was case with new Corvette so anticipate variants like ZL1 or Z/28 soon after standard model.
New model will come as 2016 Chevy Camaro, so it will likely be launched during 2015. Though precise date is unknown, we are quite certain that presentation of new model will likely be on next Detroit Auto Show.
